 | | Brett Martin’s Cast Iron Style rainwater and drainage systems demand a closer look. This is because the products in the extensive plastic rainwater range resemble traditional cast iron so closely that it is hard to tell the difference.
With such attention to precision detailing and care over architectural features it is easy to see why the Cast Iron Style range is often mistaken for real cast iron. Thanks to Brett Martin Building Products’ unique manufacturing process, the entire range is rendered in plastic, ensuring it is lightweight and easy to use with a price tag more in line with modern building products.
The Cast Iron Style range sympathetically replicates the appearance of real cast iron guttering and pipework, allowing self builders and architects to introduce the aesthetics of heritage into new buildings and refurbishment projects alike.
The range incorporates three styles of domestic gutter – 106mm Profiled Ogee, 112mm Half Round and 115mm Deep gutter profile, all utilising 68mm round downpipes and the new 65mm square downpipe range.
For larger buildings, such as a conversion project, there is a high capacity system with a half round gutter and a choice of round and rectangular downpipes. Due to demand Brett Martin Building Products has extended the range to include a soil system that complements the rainwater system and also integrates with Brett Martin Underground Drainage Systems.
Brett Martin Building Products has also developed the hopper range to include designs such as date stamps, fleurs de lys, lions and other decorative features. Such meticulously detailed accessories complete the traditional look of the Cast Iron Style Range.
The entire range is fully compatible with existing cast iron and modern style rainwater systems so it can also be used where replacement of only part of an existing system is required.
In recent years the cost of raw materials has seen the price of metals rise, making traditional cast iron cost-prohibitive for many smaller builds or refurbishment projects.
With a cost more in line with plastic products, the Cast Iron Style range is an attractive choice over real cast iron and due to its lighter weight installation is safer when working at height. With no need for priming, sealing or finishing in the same way as for real cast iron, the Cast Iron Style range is a much easier and quicker system to install.
“The close replication of real cast iron makes this the ideal specification choice for conservation areas,” explains Graham Smith, UK Sales Director for Brett Martin Building Products, “This is because it complements older building styles, a characteristic that can help to ease the planning process.”
